It is officially the party season of the year! Wrap your 2020 with some delicious party appetizers that can you can forever cherish. The best thing about parties is that you get to eat a lot of yummy finger food. And we have brought you just that. If you are hosting a small party with friends and family this holiday season, read on below to prepare these party appetizers that can get the party started!
- Loaded cheese ball bites
Ingredients:
- 500 gms of chicken
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tbsp of chopped coriander leaves
- 1 tbsp of chopped spring onion
- 1 tbsp of red chilli flakes
- 1 tsp of Italian herbs
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp of grated garlic
- 1 tbsp of all-purpose flour
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions:
- Combine chicken, egg yolk, spring onion, coriander, chilli flakes, herb mix, garlic, salt and pepper in a bowl. Mix nicely
- Next, add the flour and once again mix the batter
- Place one piece of the cheese in the centre of the disc and cover it with the chicken batter
- Shape the disc into a round ball. Set aside. Similarly, shape all the chicken balls
- Keep the shaped cheese balls in the fridge while you heat oil
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high flame
- Arrange coating ingredients – corn flour, egg white and breadcrumbs near the gas stove
- Coat cheese ball first with cornflour, dip in egg white and then coat in breadcrumbs
- Now deep-fry it in the pre-heated oil. Similarly, follow the coating steps for all the meatballs and deep fry
- Deep-fry the chicken balls till they are golden and crisp from the outside. Transfer to a plate lined with a paper towel
- Serve chicken cheese balls immediately with your favourite dip or sauce.
2. Air-fried mozzarella sticks
Ingredients:
- 6 mozzarella sticks
- 1 cup of bread crumbs
- Kosher salt
- Freshly cracked black pepper
- 2 large eggs, well-beaten
- 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour
- Warm marinara, for serving
Instructions:
- Freeze mozzarella sticks until frozen solid, at least 2 for hours
- After 3 hours, set up a breading station: Place panko, eggs, and flour in 3 separate shallow bowls. Season panko generously with salt and pepper
- Coat frozen mozzarella sticks in flour, then dip in egg, then panko, back in the egg, then back in the panko
- Arrange frozen breaded mozzarella sticks in an even layer in the basket of your air fryer. Cook on 400° for 6 minutes, or until golden and crisp on the outside and melty in the centre
- Serve with a warm marinara sauce for dipping.
3. Crispy sriracha spring roll
Ingredients:
- 3 cups coleslaw mix
- 3 green onions
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 kg boneless chicken
- 1 tsp of salt
Instructions:
- Toss coleslaw mix, onions, soy sauce and sesame oil; let stand while cooking chicken. In a saucepan, bring 4 cups water to a boil. Reduce heat to maintain a simmer
- Add chicken; cook, covered until a thermometer inserted in chicken reads 165°, 15-20 minutes. Remove chicken; cool slightly. Finely chop chicken; toss with seasoned salt
- In a large bowl, mix cream cheese and chilli sauce; stir in chicken and coleslaw mixture. With a corner of a spring roll wrapper facing you, place about 2 tablespoons filling just below the centre of the wrapper
- Cover remaining wrappers with a damp paper towel until ready to use. Fold bottom corner over filling; moisten remaining edges with water. Fold side corners toward centre over filling; roll up tightly, pressing the tip to seal
- In a cast-iron Dutch oven or electric skillet, heat oil to 375°. Fry spring rolls, a few at a time, until golden brown, 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally. Drain on paper towels. If desired, serve with sweet chilli sauce
- Freeze option: Freeze uncooked spring rolls in freezer containers, spacing them so they don’t touch, and separating layers with waxed paper. To use, fry frozen spring rolls as directed, increasing time as necessary.
