Unique Jalebi Dessert Recipes

In India, sweets are a major part of our celebrations. A special occasion would not be complete without sweets. With a variety to choose from like Kaju Barfi, Kalakand, Motichur Laddu, and Rasmalai – there are hundreds of sweets to indulge in!

Among these sweets, the Jalebi is the one that almost everyone must indulge in. That being said, why stick to the same old recipes?

Mentioned below are 2 types of unique jalebi recipes for you to try the next time you’re craving something sweet!

  1.  Chhenna Jalebi

Chhenna Jalebi, also known as Paneer Jalebi is a decadent version of jalebi created with cottage cheese. The rich taste is the kind of indulgence that we are always interested in!

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  • Place the saffron strands in a bowl and add some water to it
  • In another bowl, add the refined flour and pour water over it in small portions. Whisk till it becomes smooth
  • Cover and keep the batter in a warm place for 1 hour to set.
  • In another bowl, knead the paneer until it crumbles and turns into a paste 
  • Add 1 tbsp of milk to the paneer so that it turns thin and keep mashing it
  • Now transfer the paneer to the bowl containing the batter and mix the batter with it till it becomes smooth.
  • To make the sugar syrup, place the sugar in a vessel along with 1 cup and 2 tbsp of water and heat it till the sugar dissolves and the consistency should be a little thick and sticky.
  • Now, add saffron water to the sugar syrup and mix well – the syrup is ready.
  • For the jalebi, take a polythene cone and place it in a glass. Then pour the batter into it
  • Holding the polythene cone from the top, make a small cut at the bottom
  • Place a pan on the flame and pour enough ghee in it to deep fry the jalebis
  • Once the ghee is hot, gently press the polythene cone filled with batter in a circular manner to make round jalebis with it.
  • Put the fried jalebi in the sugar syrup for 2 minutes.
  • Serve hot!

2.  Mawa Jalebi

Much like the Paneer Jalebi, the Mawa Jalebi is also a unique version of the classic jalebi!

Ingredients:

  • Mawa – 1 Cup (Crumbled) (200 Grams)
  • Maida– ¼ Cup (30-50 Grams)
  • Sugar – 1.5 Cup (300 Grams)
  • Saffron – 20-25 Threads
  • 1 litre Ghee – For Frying Jalebi

Instructions:

  • Start by mixing together the flour and a little water until all the lumps get dissolved.
  • Add some more water to thin out the consistency of the batter
  • Whisk the batter for 4-5 minutes, cover it and keep it aside for 1 hour in a warm place
  • In another bowl, add 2-3 tbsp milk to the crumbled mawa and mash it until it becomes soft. Keep it aside for an hour
  • After an hour mix, the mawa and flour mixture together until all the ingredients blend together nicely
  • To make sugar syrup, add the sugar to the vessel along with 1 cup and 2 tbsp of water and heat it till the sugar dissolves. Cook it for 2-3 minutes. The consistency should be a little thick and sticky.
  • Add the saffron threads to the water and combine
  • Add the saffron water to the sugar syrup and mix well. The syrup is ready.
  • For the jalebi, take a polythene cone and place it in a glass. Then pour the batter into it
  • Holding the polythene cone from the top, make a small cut at the bottom
  • Place a pan on the flame and pour enough ghee in it to deep fry the jalebis
  • Once the ghee is hot, gently press the polythene cone filled with batter in a circular manner to make round jalebis with it.
  • Put the fried jalebi in the sugar syrup for 2 minutes.
  • Serve hot!
