- Best Ever London Broil
Most people mistakenly think that the London broil for a cut of meat when it is actually a type of preparation. The term refers to meat that is marinated and then seared or broiled at a high temperature. After years of popularity, some grocery stores do sell top-round steak under the name “London broil” since it’s good for this cooking style after tenderizing.
Ingredients:
- (2-lb.) broil top-round steak
- Kosher salt to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1/4 c. extra-virgin olive oil
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- 2 tbsp. packed brown sugar
- 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- FOR THE HERB BUTTER
- 1/2 c. butter, softened
- 1 tbsp. freshly chopped parsley
- 2 tsp. freshly chopped chives
- Zest of 1/2 lemon
- A Pinch crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions:
- In a bowl, whisk together the oil, lemon juice, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic
- Season the steak generously with salt and pepper before brushing the oil mixture all over it
- Let the steak sit at room temperature for an hour or refrigerate it overnight
- Preheat the broiler
- Brush off the garlic before placing the steak on a sheet pan
- Place the pan on the middle rack in the centre of the oven and broil for 12 to 15 minutes or until the top of the steak is charred
- Flip and broil for 12 to 15 minutes more or until the steak’s internal temperature reaches 125° for medium-rare
- Take the steak out of the oven and leave it to rest for 10 minutes before carving
- Serve with herb butter
MAKE HERB BUTTER
- In a small bowl, mix the butter with the herbs, lemon zest, salt, and red pepper flakes until combined
- Refrigerate until ready to use
2. Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers
Ingredients:
- 4 bell peppers, halved
- 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 16 oz. cremini mushrooms, sliced
- Kosher salt to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 1 1/2 lb. sirloin steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 16 slices provolone
- Freshly choppedparsley, for garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 220 degrees Celsius
- Place peppers in a large baking dish and bake for 30 minutes or until tender
- Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat
- Add the onions and mushrooms to the oil and season it with salt and pepper
- Cook for 6 minutes until the onions and mushrooms soften. Add the steak to the pan and season the dish with more salt and pepper
- Cook for 3 minutes stirring occasionally
- Stir in the Italian seasoning
- To set up the dish, add the provolone to the bottom of the plate and layer it with baked peppers, top with steak mixture and another piece of provolone.
- Broil the dish 3 minutes or until golden
- Garnish with parsley before serving.
3. AirFryer Steak
A perfectly seared steak can seem like a daunting task. Getting that golden, crusty sear on the outside while also trying not to overcook your steak is definitely difficult. What if we told you that your air fryer could take all of that stress away? It’s true! Leave it to the air fryer to cook a perfect piece of steak without filling your kitchen with smoke and a burnt smell.
Ingredients:
- 4 tbsp. butter softened
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp. freshly chopped parsley
- 1 tsp. freshly choppedchives
- 1 tsp. freshly chopped thyme
- 1 tsp. freshly chopped rosemary
- (2 lb.) bone-in ribeye
- Kosher salt to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine the butter and herbs
- Place the mixture in the centre of a piece of plastic wrap and roll into a log
- Twist the ends together to keep tight and refrigerate until hardened
- Season the steak on both sides with salt and pepper
- Place the steak in the basket of the air fryer and cook at 400° for 12 to 14 minutes, on medium, depending on the thickness steak, flipping halfway through
- Top the steak with a slice of herb butter to serve.
