Easy and Delicious Christmas Date Cake Recipe

Did anyone say, date cake? No Christmas celebration is complete without a classic Christmas date cake. It’s easy, tasty and super delicious! Date cake is a classic centerpiece during the Christmas spread. Read on to prepare the delicious date cake at the comfort of your home.

Classic Date Cake



  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)
  2. Grease and flour a 9 inch square pan. In a saucepan, combine water and raisins
  3. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes
  4. Remove from heat and stir in chopped dates and baking soda and set aside
  5. In a large bowl, cream together 1/2 cup butter and 3/4 cup white sugar until light and fluffy
  6. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla
  7. Beat in the flour, salt and date mixture
  8.  Pour batter into prepared pan
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean
  10.  Remove cake from oven, and set the oven to Broil
  11. Make Topping: In a saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter
  12. Stir in brown sugar, cream, and chopped nuts
  13.  Spread mixture over warm cake and place under broiler until lightly browned, about 3 minutes
  14. Watch carefully – it burns easily under the broiler
  15. Cool before serving.

  1. Chop the dates and soak in milk overnight
  2. (If you don’t have time to chop and soak the dates
  3. In a microwave safe cup/bowl add the milk and dates and microwave it for 2 minutes and let it cool for 10 minutes
  4. Preheat the oven at 220°C
  5. Blend the soaked dates, milk and the sugar and bring it to a smooth paste
  6. Shift it to a bowl and add oil to it. Now add the flour gradually and mix it
  7. Add the chopped cashew and almonds while saving a little for later on
  8. Line a butter paper to the baking tin
  9. Pour the batter to the baking tin and sprinkle the saved nuts and almonds at the top
  10. Bake at 180°C for 40 minutes or until the toothpick doesn’t come out clean
  11. Take out and let it cool for 10-15 minutes
  12. Once cooled turn upside own, remove the butter paper and it’s ready to cut.
